Helen WattsEditor, writer and publisher, Helen Watts, has worked in educational publishing for nearly 25 years, the majority of those specialising in the production of literacy resources for teachers and children at primary school level. Her experience includes magazine and book publishing, and she has worked for some of the biggest and best publishing houses in the UK, including Heinemann and Scholastic.

Helen was Editor of Scholastic’s Literacy Time magazine series for 10 years and, in 2009, she founded The Literacy Club, through which she published magazines, books and online resources for teachers, pupils and parents. 

Through her editorial services company, Aston Hill Editorial, Helen offers a wide range of editorial and publishing services, from consultancy and project management to writing and editing, including acting as Schools Coordinator for the Stratford-upon-Avon Literary Festival.

Helen's educational publications include Make Phonics Fun and Building Blocks: Themed Activities for the Early Years Foundation Stage (both published by LCP). May 2013. Helen's first historical fiction novel for the teenage market One Day in Oradour was published by A&C Black in May 2013. Since then she has had three other fiction titles published. No Stone Unturned (A&C Black originals, September 2014) is a historical mystery adventure for readers age 8 and over. The Ghost of the Trenches (A&C Black/Bloomsbury, April 2014) is a collection of legends and folktales for children commemorating the First World War Centenary (2014-2018). Helen has also co-written a similar collection for adults, First World War Folktales, published in hardback by The History Press (August 2014).
